This is written to
honor of all people who are grieving the loss of loved ones, people who are afraid of death and people who want
to understand
the mysterious process which brings a completion to life on Earth. |
|
Everyone will one day go through the death process thus,
understanding it becomes important. Fear is one of
the most negative emotions. It is like a huge gray cloud hanging over and around a person. Fear can be crippling. Fear in one area of life can prevent
a person from experiencing joy in any area of life. Gaining an understanding of that which is feared can
transform your life. Knowledge is power. |
|
Documented research reveals that eight million Americans have had
near death experiences. Near death experiences have
occurred in 5%
of the American population. One third
of the people who have come close to death have
had near death experiences. This considerable
population of people has provided us with valuable information
about the process of death.
|
|
Not all but most of the people who have
had near death experiences report having
had similar experiences.
The majority of these people report seeing
a bright light at the end of a tunnel. It
is
common to hear reports of being met by
loved ones and/or spiritual
leaders and
teachers.
They report feeling a loving energy, more
powerfully loving than they could ever have
imagined. Many assert they felt as though
their brains were larger.
Most people reveal they would have
chosen
to stay on the "other side" if they
had been
given
the choice. Some people
report they
are given the choice and decide
to return to
their life on Earth to care for
their families
and loved ones.
The personal lives of ordinary people have
been changed forever after having had a
near death experience. Most commonly
these people are grateful for having been
given
the
opportunity to have the experience.
|

The feeling of love
and support will
surround you. |

|
There are
three doctors who have been
particularly devoted to the research
and understanding of the death
process and near death experiences.
|
|
Dr.
Kubler-Ross, a psychiatrist, spent
decades with dying patients many of whom were children
who were too young to have read or discussed the process of
death with others. She lovingly spent time sitting at
the bedsides of dying patients observing and inquiring
uncovering many astonishing insights which she recorded so
that we can benefit from her research. She was a true
pioneer in hospice. She also talked about the inner
knowing that patients have in regard to what they need
and the status of their own
health. She
respected the inner knowing of her patients.

Dr. Raymond Moody
has a PhD in philosophy and psychology, he
is also
an MD. By Dr. Moody's
own admission, during his early life, he was not religious. He states
his approach was the need
to prove everything scientifically. He
believed death was an obliteration of consciousness. All that changed. Dr.
Moody has now written many books on near death
experiences. At least half of his books tell about his
research on Life After Life which is the
title of his first book. He has dedicated his life
and his career to researching the process of
death, dying and the continuation of life. Due
to his thorough research he is able to describe in detail the
near-death experience. By all accounts
he is a truly loving and caring
human being who wants to help others.
Dr. Moody trains hospice
workers, clergy, psychologists, nurses, doctors, and other medical
professionals on matters of grief recovery and dying.

Dr. Bruce Greyson is a professor
of psychiatric medicine at the University
of Virginia. Dr. Greyson is one of the first researchers
to gather empirical
data on near-death experiences (NDEs) using accepted scientific methods.
He is a member of the Parapsychological Association. Dr.
Greyson is the
Director of Research at the International
Association of Near Death Studies.
The Near-Death Experience: Problems, Prospects, Perspectives
is a book
co-authored by Dr. Greyson and C. P. Flynn.
Dr. Greyson is also the
editor of the Journal of Near-Death Studies.
These are just a few people, well-educated, serious researchers who are learned and caring
professionals. They have dedicated their lives to
understanding what occurs at the time the heart stops and the
last breath is taken. We
are fortunate that these
people have been dedicated to the
investigation of this mysterious part of life. Their research
and the research of other dedicated scientists helps us to
understand the transition and helps to reduce our fear of the
unknown.
The research of these kind and caring human beings is a reassurance
that
we do not have to live in fear. Reports from the research
these dedicated professionals have accumulated as
well as the research of others too numerous to discuss here leaves no room to doubt the love we have to
look forward to when it becomes our turn to leave this Earth.
We can also feel comforted that our loved ones were met and cared
for by a loving
energy far greater than we ourselves were able to give.
|
Reflections.....
Despite the wondrous reports of
loving energy, we are not to hurry our departure
process. We have come to Earth for a reason, we have a
mission to fulfill here. It is our responsibility
to stay on Earth until God calls us home.
If we meet someone who has had a near death experience it is
important we honor his or her experience rather than
attempting to wave it off as though there was some other
explanation for the person's experience. It is important
to honor the experiences that other people have for the
experiences belong to them. Having had a near death
experience is such an extraordinary experience the person
deserves to be honored and respected. How could we
possibly know more about another person's experience than he
or she knows having had the personal experience.

In 1997 Nancy was trained as a
Hospice volunteer in Juneau, Alaska. When the time draws
near to cross over, the loving energy of Reiki is
soothing and
supportive.. Reiki can help people relax and release
feelings of fear when the time arrives. Nancy is often
called to help
people feel more comfortable when their time draws near. She
also is available for spiritual
counseling.
